1. Who we are

For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is Ceremonies by Bryony, an independent celebrancy business based in Worthing, West Sussex.

You can contact Ceremonies by Bryony about this notice or your personal data by email at bryony@ceremoniesbybryony.com or by telephone on 07915 569755.

2. The personal data we collect

The information collected depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

  • Your name, email address, telephone number and preferred method of contact.
  • Information you provide when you enquire about or book a ceremony, including date, location, venue, ceremony preferences and correspondence.
  • Information needed to write and deliver a ceremony, such as personal stories, relationships, readings, music choices and contributions from people involved.
  • Payment and invoicing information where services are booked.
  • Technical information generated when your browser loads the website, such as IP address, browser type and request time.

The enquiry form on this website prepares an email in your own email application. It does not submit your answers to the website or store them in a website database. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal information by email unless it is genuinely necessary. Some information shared later for a ceremony may be sensitive, particularly in connection with a funeral or memorial. We will only use that information where there is a clear and lawful reason to do so.

  • Funeral directors, venues or other suppliers only where you ask us to share information or where it is necessary to deliver the service you have requested.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law enforcement or other parties where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Any service provider handling personal data on our behalf must provide appropriate safeguards and only use it for the agreed purpose.

5. International transfers

Some providers used to operate a website, email or cloud services may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will use an appropriate transfer mechanism or safeguard recognised by UK data protection law. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards used for a particular provider.

6. How long we keep information

We only keep personal data for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, to meet legal and accounting obligations, or to deal with a complaint or legal claim. Different records may therefore be kept for different periods. Invoices and accounting records are normally kept for at least 6 years where UK tax law requires this. You can ask us about the retention period that applies to your information.

If non-essential cookies, analytics, embedded social media, video, booking tools or similar technology are added, this policy will be updated and a clear consent mechanism will be provided before those technologies are set, where required by law.
